Honey, indeed!

Guess what?! We harvested our first round of honey for 2010. It is liquid gold; we finished off the first pint in a day. I suspect that each of us kept sneaking a spoonful here and there. No matter, there's plenty. It's just an extraordinary thing to put honey in your mouth knowing it's from the bees you've been watching. We spun the frames ourselves this time and got about 9 gallons. Can you believe it? The next harvest should be in another 3 or 4 weeks. If you're local and you want some, let me know 'cause we're selling this year baby!

PLEASE hold out a jar for us to buy in August! Our local friends who keep bees just went from 3 hives to 6, so I'm hoping they will have lots to sell me, too. We go through a pint a week, and it's only that slowly because I'm paying for it and I threaten anybody who comes near it with a spoon (except me, of course!)

Yes, it is delicious and my tea loves it too!! Feel so fortunate to have spent precious time with the kids last week.....it was good for me esp. with my baby so far away. But, Yeah she is home and I have been able to give her some hugs and a back rub:) I love my girl!! She had an amazing adventure down in Peru, said the best part was White Water Rafting on the Apurimac River for 3 days. So very happy your sweet Mom is on the road to recovery. Love the quilt your creating for that sweet, blue-eyed boy! Sorry I didn't get to hug you yesterday. How cool that you got breakfast in bed. You have a very wise husband. Love you all!! Noreen

We have a hive now also - I don't remember if I told you! I love watching the bees going in and out of the hive! This year we don't plan to take any honey from them since this is their first year. We just put a super on a few weeks ago.
